How To Make Togolese Sweet Bread!



Today's recipe is a mouth-watering Togolese Sweet Bread from my home country, Togo. Growing up in Togo, my parent did not have it that much, and my mom was always looking for meals that were sustainable and filling. This delectable sweet bread is a testament to dear Mother's creativity and passion for cooking. It is a delightful combination of aromatic spices, rich flavors, and a soft, pillowy texture. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat any time of the day, it is sure to impress your family, friends, or any guests that come your way.


Prepare to embark on a culinary adventure as I will show you step-by-step how to create this delectable bread that will leave your taste buds begging for more. So, let's get started and dive into Togolese cuisine. Foremost things first


Dry Ingredients

  1. 3 cups self-raised flour

  2. 1 cup granulated cane sugar

  3. 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg or powder

  4. 1/3 of Greek yogurt


Wet ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cup whole milk

  2. 2 large eggs

  3. 4 cups of grapeseeds oil to fry

Direction:

  1. In a large bowl, add the wet and dried ingredients and mix until well combined.

  2. In a large wok, add grape seeds oil or coconut oil over medium heat. Make sure the oil is around 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  3. With an ice cream scooper, scoop and drop the dough into the oil. Let it cook for 2-3 min until golden brown. Take them out and serve them warm with a little dash of sugar powder, and enjoy!
